All For a Song

Dorothy Lynn Dunbar has everything she ever wanted: her family, her church, her community, and plans to marry the young pastor who took over her late father’s pulpit. Time spent in the woods, lifting her heart and voice in worship accompanied by her brother’s old guitar, makes her life complete . . . and yet she longs for something more.

Spending a few days in St. Louis with her sister’s family, Dorothy Lynn discovers a whole new way of life—movies, music, dancing; daring fashions and fancy cars. And a dynamic charismatic evangelist . . . who just happens to be a woman. When Dorothy Lynn is offered a chance to join Aimee Semple McPherson’s crusade team, she finds herself confronted with temptations she never dreamed of. Can Dorothy Lynn embrace all the Roaring Twenties has to offer without losing herself in the process?

This book ended differently then i thought and was slightly confusing and fuzzy on certain parts. The main charecter was "flitty" to me. Like how she allowed people to control what she did and how she dressed. And she didn't have a lot of control over her own life in certain parts of the book. But all in all it was a good read that i enjoyed reading. I would recommend this title to lovers of Christian fiction and the 1990's.
i give it 4 out of 5 stars, just because of the confusing parts of the book.

I recieved this book for review thru Tyndale house publishiers, only to express my own views.

Christy Miller Vol. 1

The first nine books in the popular Christy Miller series are now available in three treasured volumes! Bestselling author Robin Jones Gunn packs each one with enough action, romance, and drama to keep you reading and wanting more. It all starts the summer Christy vacations on a California beach and meets two friends who change her life forever. But after moving across the country with her family, Christy must begin her sophomore year of high school uncertain where she’ll fit in. A red-headed new best friend, a try at cheerleading, a job at a pet store, and expectations for the prom fill Christy’s high school years with a string of laughter-and-tears moments. Fireball Katie keeps everyone guessing what she’ll do next, and surfer Todd keeps showing up while popular Rick has determined to get her full attention! As these memorable years unfold, Christy and her God-loving friends find out what it means to be a “peculiar treasure.” Follow Christy Miller as she stays true to her identity in Christ, drawing closer to God for help in realizing her dreams and dealing with her disappointments. Whether you’re meeting her for the first time or have known her for years— Christy Is a Forever Friend Summer Promise Fourteen-year-old Christy Miller has the dream summer ahead of her in sun-kissed California, staying with her aunt and uncle at their beachfront home. Aunt Marti loves to shop, and those surfers are cute—especially Todd. Christy promised her parents she wouldn’t do anything she’d regret later, and some of her beach friends are a little wild. But Todd and his “God-Lover” friends are giving Christy a new image of all things eternal. Can this summer live up to its promise? A Whisper and a Wish Christy’s family has moved to California just in time for her sophomore year of high school. But they’re not in Newport Beach, where she spent the summer. Instead they’re an hour and a half away and Christy has to start all over making friends. Despite an embarrassing escapade at a slumber party, things are going pretty well...until some midnight fun leads to a trip to the police station. Does God really hear every whisper? Does He know our every wish? Then why is it so hard to know who your friends really are? Yours Forever Christy is back at Aunt Marti and Uncle Bob’s house on the beach for the entire week between Christmas and New Year’s...and Todd is in town, too! The cute surfer completely captured Christy’s heart last summer, and she’s eager to spend every possible minute with him. But soon Christy and her aunt are barely speaking, and it seems like all her friends are mad at her, too—including Todd! Is he hers or isn’t he? And why would God let things get so tangled?
I love this series! I read all the books over the summer and  feel every Christian girl should read them. The deal with a verity of different topics that all teens can relate to in their life. I would recommened this series for girls ages 12 and up.
I recieved this book for review, i was not made to write a possitive review, only to express my thoughts.

Unglued Devotional

This companion devotional to the bestselling book Unglued provides encouragement to help readers handle emotional struggles. Including a daily opening Scripture, Thought for the Day, devotion, and closing prayer, this book helps readers begin a 60-day journey in learning to positively process raw emotions, such as fear, anger, and regret.
A beautifully designed devotional, Unglued is a real heart to heart devotional that spoke right to my heart.  I felt I could really relate to the author as she spoke. I found myself nodding my head in agreement as I read through this devotional. Although it is a smaller book, this book is jam packed with powerful words.
Once you read one devotional by Terkeurst, you cannot stop reading them. Each devotional is not very long and is filled with wisdom, stories, and so much more. I am very happy with this book and would recommend this devotional.

I Am Not But I Know I Am: Welcome to the Story of God

I Am Not But I Know I Am: Welcome to the Story of God

“God is looking for ordinary people
to play significant roles
in His story.

Our God is more expansive and powerful than we could ever imagine, the all-mighty creator of galaxies beyond our reach. But He is also the loving creator who has formed and fashioned you.  Yet, as valuable as you are to Him, God’s best for your life is to invite you into a story that is all about Him.

In this intensely personal and highly motivating book, bestselling author, pastor, and Passion founder Louie Giglio shows you how to embrace your “smallness” in light of God’s greatness—and live with more meaning than you have ever dreamed possible.

I am not…but God knows my name.
I am not…but He has pursued me in His love.
I am not…but I know the Creator of the universe.
I am not, but I know I AM!

Now updated with all new content to encourage you in your quest to live for what matters most.”
Is this oh so true. This book is a book about finding your part in God’s story. It is not about our story, but rather us finding our part in God’s story. Giglio takes us back to the good old days – all the way back to Adam and Eve and offers great insightful advice to everyone. He even relates with his own stories in such an uplifting, encouraging way. Filled with great stand out statements throughout the book to catch your attention, this book will change your life is you allow it to.

20,000 Days

The day for change is today and it's more simple than you realize.
Most people sleepwalk through day-to-day life, passively letting time slip away.  Unfortunately, the only thing that can usually wake people up to the intensity of life is impending death.  But what if it didn't have to be that way?  20,000 Days presents breathtakingly simple strategies and concepts that, once applied, will enable readers to be 100% present and intentional with every passing minute of every day, for the rest of their lives.
The book is designed to be read in under an hour and the effect is immediate.  Within each segment are tactics for mastering control for your life; principles such as:
Motivation is a myth
You only have two choices, yes and no
How to conquer rejection forever
How BECOMING the problem will SOLVE all your problems
Three sentences that will change your life immediately
These timeless principles apply to everyone from the pending graduate to the seasoned business professional; from the time-starved parent to the weary pastor to the restless entrepreneur.
On the 20,000th day of his life, the author sent an email that inspired and reminded a group of people of all ages to live in the moment.  This group now includes you.
I was really excited to receive this book. After I requested this book, I could not wait to receive it. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed by any means. I love how this is a crash course that only took one sitting to read and grasp. The author was straight to the point and frankly, it was filled with valuable information that I have already begun to apply to my life. Also between each chapter, there are quotes which I found to be a great touch. This author is a powerful writer whom we could all learn a lot from.  And trust me, you will not regret getting this book either.
