Meet Corrinne. She's living every girl's dream in New York City—shopping sprees at Barneys, open access to the best clubs and parties, and her own horse at the country club. Her perfect life is perfectly on track. At least it was. . . . When Corrinne's father is laid off, her world suddenly falls apart. Instead of heading to boarding school, she's stripped of her credit cards and shipped off to the boonies of Texas to live with her grandparents. On her own in a big public school and forced to take a job shoveling manure, Corrinne is determined to get back to the life she's supposed to be living. She doesn't care who she stomps on in the process. But when Corrinne makes an unlikely friend and discovers a total hottie at work, she begins to wonder if her life B.R.—before the recession—was as perfect as it seemed.
I really loved this book. I picked it up at a thrift store for 25 cents while on vacation and burned through it in a little over 2 days. I loved it with a passion, this book had that good summery feel I have been craving like crazy and enough romance to make it interesting. I laughed at moments and got mad at moments but that's what makes a good book. One that you can feel something on the inside while reading it. I felt like the ending could have used another chapter or two. Loose ends and hanging people, I don't like that. I need good endings okay? Anyway's a good summer read about a girl who has to learn to adapt to a totally different lifestyle.
Three months. Three guys. One amazing summer.Summer Smith is in for the best summer of her life. Between the cold weather and her boyfriendless existence in Minnesota, Summer is ready for sun, sand, and boys in the Florida Keys. And by the end of the first day, she has more than enough to keep her busy: Adam, the senator's son, has looks, power, and all the money in the world. Diver, the mystery man, is mellow, intriguing, and definitely unique. And Seth, the perfect guy...only he has a girlfriend. But with new friends, cute guys, and miles of hot white sand, Summer's in for more trouble than she thinks....
I loved this book, I had bought this several summers ago when the used bookstore in my town went out of business and had a sale. I bought it primarily because of the cover,( I love this cover... ) and just haven't gotten around to read it until this summer. This book is very thick at 721 pages but not a one is boring! I was very surprised when i started this book and was instantly drawn into the whole beachy summer romance theme of this novel. I read this while on vacation at the lake so it was pretty perfect. I have been in a cutesy romance novel kick with some deeper themes mixed into the background. I got my fix with this book, it was just what I needed to read. I would defiantly recommend it .
Some vampires are good. Some are evil. Some are faking it to get girls.Awkward and allergic to the sun, sixteen-year-old Finbar Frame never gets the girl. But when he notices that all the female students at his school are obsessed with a vampire romance novel called Bloodthirsty, Finbar decides to boldly go where no sane guy has gone before-he becomes a vampire, minus the whole blood sucking part. With his brooding nature and weirdly pale skin, it's surprisingly easy for Finbar to pretend to be paranormal. But, when he meets the one girl who just might like him for who he really is, he discovers that his life as a pseudo-vampire is more complicated than he expected. This hilarious debut novel is for anyone who believes that sometimes even nice guys-without sharp teeth or sparkly skin-- can get the girl.
I must say, i was very surprised this was written by a girl... Its sounds so much like a guys voice you have to assume it was written by a guy. Anyway's this book was awesome. Funny, witty and full of crazy high school life. It had me laughing out loud over parts and in general, having a great time reading it. Short, funny "fake vampire" book.
Like many girls her age in India, thirteen-year-old-Koly is getting married. Full of hope and courage, she leaves home forever. But in a grim turn of events Koly finds herself cast out into a current of cruel tradition. Her future, it would seem, is lost. Yet this rare young woman, bewildered and brave, sets out to forge her own exceptional future.
I really loved this book. I am a avid reader of historical fiction normally, but the last couple months I have been on a contemporary, cutesy romance kind of kick. So I was unsure when I picked this up how I was going to like it. I found it was a contemporary read, and ever though its kind of a sad book, it has a happy ending which I wasn't expecting, at all. So I was decently surprised. I really loved it though and I would defiantly recommend it.
When a small mistake costs sixteen-year-old Eagan her life during a figure-skating competition, she leaves many things unreconciled, including her troubled relationship with her mother. From her vantage point in the afterlife, Eagan reflects back on her memories, and what she could have done differently, through her still-beating heart. When fourteen-year-old Amelia learns she will be getting a heart transplant, her fear and guilt battle with her joy at this new chance at life. And afterwards when she starts to feel different—dreaming about figure skating, craving grape candy—her need to learn about her donor leads her to discover and explore Eagan’s life, meeting her grieving loved ones and trying to bring the closure they all need to move on. Told in alternating viewpoints, In a Heartbeat tells the emotional and compelling story of two girls sharing one heart.
I loved reading this book.I love the whole aspect of two girls who are connected in a very deep way. It was amazing how she tangled the two stories together and showed a couple different aspects of the story. I really enjoyed reading it and I would defiantly recommend it to younger readers, probably tween aged.
“Dead girl walking”, the boys say in the halls.
“Tell us your secret”, the girls whisper, one toilet to another.
I am that girl.
I am the space between my thighs, daylight shining through.
I am the bones they want, wired on a porcelain frame.
Lia and Cassie are best friends, wintergirls frozen in matchstick bodies, competitors in a deadly contest to see who can be the skinniest. But what comes after size zero and size double-zero? When Cassie succumbs to the demons within, Lia feels she is being haunted by her friend’s restless spirit.
In her most emotionally wrenching, lyrically written book since the multiple-award-winning Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson explores Lia’s descent into the powerful vortex of anorexia, and her painful path toward recovery.
Wow. I started being a fan of Laurie's after I read speak a couple months ago. I have come to think of her and her books as the books I go to when I want to read something deep and real. I loved this book. I love how she showed the way that Lia thought, and how different our thoughts are from hers. How different everything is. I love that about her books. All I have to say is go and read it, go read it now.

I thought I would love this book a little more then I did. IT'S PETER PAN. IT'S A RETELLING. What's not to like? I don't know what I didn't like the most. I had a hard time imagining what kind of "thing" Tiger Lily was, was she human? Or some kind of mythical neverland creature? i didn't really know. But the ending was okay, it wasn't quite what I wanted but it was okay. I was expecting more, much more but was let down. I only half enjoyed it in the end and I dont think i would want to read it again. Maybe if i read it in book form i would have understood it better?
